RULES AND REGULATIONS

  • SCHOOL RULES

    There are some School Rules that every student of the IDPS should follow and maintain the discpline of the school.

    � The Almanac and ID Card should be carried by the students to school every day.

    � Students who commute to school by their own conveyance must reach school 5 minutes before the given time. School gates will close at the given school time.

    � Students should be habitually clean and always neatly dressed. The school uniform should be worn on all working days and for all school functions.

    � Non-Sikh boys should get their hair cut at regular intervals. No student is allowed to have stylish haircuts.

    � Any kind of religious accessory is not allowed in the school.

    � Every pupil should endeavour to keep the high standard of the school, by excelling in good manners

    � Students who use offensive language, bully & hurt other students or cause damage to school property are liable to be penalized.

    � Care must be taken of all school property and no one should scratch or spoil the desks or chairs or damage any school furniture, write or draw anything on the wall or in any way damage things belonging to others.

    � Damage done even by accident should be reported at once to the Class Teacher, class monitor/reps or to the Principal.

    � A student is put under reformatory measures if he/she damages the school property. However, if he/she persists, a fine is imposed.

    � Students are not allowed to bring any sharp instruments to school.

    � Students should take pride in keeping the school clean.

    � The school reserves for itself, the right to terminate any student whose progress in studies is unsatisfactory or whose conduct is a bad example for others.

    � Security of our students is a matter of great concern to us, hence students coming on self-driven automobiles or two wheelers are not appreciated.

  • RECOMMENDATION FOR PARENTS/ GUARDIANS

    The students must be responsible for their own belongings. The school is not responsible in any manner for the same. Labelling of all belongings with name, class, section, etc. is mandatory.

    � Ensure your ward's regularity, punctuality and decent behaviour.

    � Kindly see that your ward's text books and exercise books are labelled and carried according to the time table for the day. Extra books should be avoided to reduce the bag load.

    � If your child is suffering from any infectious disease you are requested to send your ward to school only after he/she is completely cured.

    � Please ensure to inform the school of any change in your address, designation, contact number, e-mail id etc.

    � Parents should not give money or any expensive item to child.

    � Parents are requested to acknowledge all the academic reports of their ward promptly, be it the Report Card, answer script, assessment sheet or anything of similar nature.

    � Parents are an integral part of the school and the school expects them to co-operate in enforcing all the guidelines that will benefit the child and assist in the smooth functioning of the school.

    � The almanac serves as a bridge between teachers, students and parents. Parents are requested to sign the remarks written by teachers in the school calendar.

    � The school insists on strict punctuality, regular school attendance, regulation regarding uniform, cleanliness in dress, good grooming and fidelity to study and work assignments. Absence from school for social functions is discouraged.

    � As the medium of instruction in the school is English, parents should provide simple opportunities to their children to converse in English at home.

    � Parents are advised to strictly avoid criticism of school and school teachers in the presence of the ward, as it may lead to loss of respect for the school/ school teachers which may in turn lead to failure to learn from him/her, resulting in lack of ward's progress.

    � Parents are urged to monitor the use of internet especially the social networking sites, if at all used by their ward(s).

    � No Teacher is allowed to tutor his/her own students. Please do not request or pay the teachers for the same.

    � You can meet the Principal and Section In-charge during the PTMs and a prior appointment through the reception.

    � Any communication made by parents/guardians should be addressed to the Principal and not to the class teacher.

  • TRAVEL RULES

    Students who come to school under the care of guardian/ attendant/ rickshaw-puller should never leave before he/she arrives to take them back.

    Supervision Rules

    � Students who come to school under the care of guardian/ attendant/ rickshaw-puller should never leave before he/she arrives to take them back. In case of delay, they should report to the school office. Wards will only be allowed with the authorised Supervision I-card holder.

    Bus Rules

    � Subject to availability of seats, students may avail bus facility as per existing rules and fares.

    � Bus fees will have to be remitted along with the tuition fees.

    � The school does not entertain any change in the bus route to suit the individual's convenience.

    � Bus facility cannot be withdrawn in the month of May, June and December to February.

    � Bus facility will be charged for the whole academic session.

    � Students are expected to be on the right side of their bus stops along with escorting person at least five minutes before the arrival of the bus. The buses will not wait for late comers.

    � The drivers are authorized to stop buses at the designated stop only, unless, directed by the transport in-charge.

    � Objects of any kind must not be thrown inside or outside the bus.

    � Commuters are not allowed to change school buses or go by other means of transport without written permission from the Principal.

    � Kindly give an application according to the format attached in the almamac and submit in the school reception.

    � In disciplinary behaviour is strictly prohibited. In such case, bus service will be withdrawn immediately without prior intimation.

    � Students will be held responsible for any damage to buses caused by negligence or vandalism and fined accordingly.

    � Parents/ Guardians are not allowed to enter the bus. In case of any problem/complaint they are required to meet the school authorities in the school office.

  • DISCIPLINE CODE

    The following acts and conduct on the part of the students will amount to misconduct.

    � Misbehaviour towards teachers or any other employee of the school.

    � Intentional disturbance of classes.

    � Bullying/ intimidating others.

    � Damaging/ disfiguring school property.

    � Theft/ pilferage of school/student's property.

    � Indulging in acts of moral turpitude.

    � When students move along the corridors and when changing class, they must maintain silence and walk in a single line keeping to the left.

    � Students are expected to speak only in ENGLISH during school hours.

    In case of misconduct, school shall take action as per observation, which may involve:

    � Oral warning to the student.

    � Written warnings.

    � Suspension of one day from classes/ school/ period after three written warnings.

    � Final written warning in case of no improvement.

    � Suspension of one week.

  • LEAVE RULES

    It is important for students to attend the first and last day of school.If due to unavoidable circumstances they are unable to do so, written permission of the Principal is needed before the child can attend the academic session.

    � Every student must have at least 85% attendance to appear in any examination. Benefit of having more attendance for half yearly will not be given to the annual. The relaxation in the attendance may be granted subject to the full satisfaction of the Principal /Headmistress on any of the following two grounds:

    a) Medical grounds: In case the child is seriously sick and remains absent for two or more than two consecutive working days he/she will have to produce the medical fitness certificate from a competent authority.

    b) Any mis-happening in the family.

    Under both the above mentioned conditions, it is the duty of the parents to inform the school well in time.

    � A student returning to school after suffering from an infectious/contagious disease should produce a doctor's certificate of fitness to attend classes. Students suffering from the following disease must observe the prescribed period of quarantine before returning to class.

    a) Chicken Pox : Till scabs fall completely.

    b) Cholera : Till the child is completely well

    c) Conjunctivitis : Till redness in the eyes completely disappears.

    d) Measles : Two weeks after the rashes disappear

    e) Mumps : Until swelling has gone (about one month)

    f) Whooping Cough : Six weeks

    A discharge slip along with the other related documents will be required from the hospital in case a student has been hospitalized for any disease (e.g. jaundice, typhoid, malaria etc.).

    � It is important for students to attend the first and last day of school ( i.e., before and after every vacation). If due to unavoidable circumstances they are unable to do so, written permission of the Principal is needed before the child can attend the academic session.

    � Students are responsible for making up all work missed during the period of their absence. However, teachers support will be provided.

    � For any other day of absence the parents should submit a written explanation in the handbook.

    � If sick leave is being mentioned and it is for more than 3 days, the parent should submit a doctor's certificate.

    � Any student participating in athletics or other extra-curricular activities after school hours cannot remain absent from regular school.

    � Half days or early leave for students will be permitted at the discretion of the Management and Principal.

    � When a long term absence is anticipated, parents/guardians should take written permission from the Principal.

    � No leave will be granted for family vacations, festivities, ceremonies, overseas trips, etc. except on medical grounds.

    � Absence without granted leave or unexplained absence for six consecutive working days will lead to strict disciplinary action as deemed fit.

    � Absence without proper information over the period of a week and continuous absence of 90 days or more without information renders a pupil liable to have his/her name struck off the roll. The admission fee must be paid again for re-admission.

    � Students having 100% Attendance will be awarded with a medal/merit certificate at the end of the session.

  • LIBRARY RULES

    The School Library is open to all bonafide students of the school. All classes are provided with at least one library period per week. Students have to observe the following rules:

    � They must maintain absolute silence in the Library.

    � Books other than reference books are issued for 10 days. If the books are returned late without a valid reason, the borrowing facility is withdrawn for 4 weeks with a fine of Rs. 10/- per day for returning books after the due date.

    � The Library has an open shelf system and students must help to maintain order and organization in the different shelves. They can take the books for reading and must replace the books at the same place after consultation and not just put them anywhere on the shelves.

    � Students are not allowed to bring their personal books or belongings into the library.

    � Books issued should be returned to the Library in good condition. Strict action will be taken against a child found damaging or defacing a book.(The borrower will have to either replace the book or pay the price of the book).

  • FEE RULES

    Detailed instructions regarding school fees are given in the fee card. Parents must ensure that all schools fee dues are paid on time.

    Parents must ensure that all schools fee dues are paid on time. A 'late fee' fine will be applicable in case school fee is not paid by the stipulated date as mentioned in the fee card. The fee is subjected to a 10-15% increase each year. A fine of Rs 200/- shall become applicable for a dishonoured cheque. If there are two such instances, the name of the child will be struck off the school roll. Students, whose fees and other school dues are not cleared and are not up to date will not be allowed to sit for the Mid-term/ Final term exams.

  • SWIMMING RULES

    There are also some simming rules that the students of the IDPS should follow.

    � IDPS Garten has splash pool in their curriculum.

    � Class I to X will have an option of swimming in one of the games period.

    � Children will have to carry their own swimming costumes, towels and swimming cap duly labelled with the name, class, section, and address in a separate bag.

    � All items of clothing, shoes, and socks should be labelled with the child’s name, class and section.

    � Student suffering from any skin ailment will be restricted from using the pool.

    � Student should bring a medical certificate if he/ she is not to use the swimming pool.

    � Parents should fill up the NOC for swimming; otherwise his/ her ward will not be permitted to enter the swimming pool.

  • THINGS NOT PERMITTED IN SCHOOL

    There are certain things that are not permitted or allowed in the school campus.

    � Expensive and flashy items like fancy watches, jewellery, pens etc.

    � Electronic items like iPods, cell phones, Discman/ Walkman, PSP, Game boy, CDs, CD Players, hand held video games, etc.

    � Toys, balls and sporting equipment not related to SPA.

    � Inappropriate books, magazines etc. with racist, communal or obscene literature or images.

  • Note:-

    Should these items be found with the children, they will be confiscated and not returned under any circumstances. Disciplinary action will be taken as deemed fit by the school authorities.
